    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 862 with the addition of five more deaths recorded from October 11 to October 15, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday.

    Of the five new deaths, one was fully vaccinated, another partially vaccinated, two unvaccinated and the other’s vaccination status was unknown. Those deaths now increase October’s death toll to 63.

    Additionally, 108 new infections were recorded from 2,181 PCR tests increasing Guyana’s overall infection rate to 34,240 since the first case in March 2020.

    Those new cases were recorded in Region One (seven cases), Region Two (nine cases), Region Three (14 cases), Region Four (56 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (13 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (one case) and Region 10 (two cases).

    Additionally, there are 31 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 120 are people in institutional isolation, 3,614 people are in home isolation, and 22 people are in institutional quarantine.

    Importantly, a total of 29,613 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
