    Four more people, who were not vaccinated, have died from COVID-19 taking October’s death toll to 71 while the number of deaths recorded since March 11, 2020 has increased to 870, according to information provided by the Ministry of Health.

    The latest fatalities are: an 83-year-old woman from Region Seven (Cuyuni- Mazaruni), a 65-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica), a 44-year-old man from Region Four and a 51-year-old woman from Region Four. They all died on October 16, while receiving care at medical institutions.

    Meanwhile, another 93 individuals have been infected with the deadly virus. These new infections were recorded after 992 tests were conducted and this means that the number of confirmed infections Guyana has recorded overall has increased to 34, 455.

    The new cases were recorded in: Region One (five new cases), Region Two (five cases), Region Three (13 cases), Region Four (41 cases), Region Five (seven cases), Region Six (seven cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Eight (two cases) and Region 10 (11 cases).

    Additionally, there are 28 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 123 people are in institutional isolation, 3,702 people are in home isolation and four people are in institutional quarantine.

    Importantly, a total of 29,732 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
