    Four more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 increasing Guyana’s overall death toll to 881, according to the Ministry of Health.

    The patients were admitted with COVID-19 like symptoms but died while receiving care at medical institutions. This would also mean that October’s death toll has increased to 82.

    Of the four deaths – two men and two women – two persons were unvaccinated, one was partially vaccinated and the other was fully vaccinated against the dreaded coronavirus.

    Meanwhile, 118 new infections were recorded over the past 24 hrs after 1,535 PCR tests were conducted.

    With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections has increased to 34,726.

    These new cases were recorded in: Region One (two cases), Region Two (one case), Region Three (17 cases), Region Four (52 cases), Region Five (11 cases), Region Six (14 cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Eight (six cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region 10 (11 cases).

    There are also 23 patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 113 people in institutional isolation, 3,503 people in home isolation and seven people in institutional quarantine.

    Meanwhile, a total of 30,206 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
