21-year-old admitted to the bar

Twenty-one-year old Abhimanyu Dev was admitted to the bar by Chief Justice Roxane George, S.C.

His petition was presented by prominent lawyer Devindra Kissoon who told the Court that Abhimanyu gained a distinction at law school and was always poised for success at an early age.

He submitted that Abhimanyu placed fourth in the country at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) at just nine-years-old, completed 18 subjects at CSEC and five subjects at CAPE.

He later excelled at Hugh Wooding, and has been involved with complex cases at the law firm. He is the son of columnist Ravi Dev and former teacher, Padmini Dev.

Chief Justice George charged the young lawyer to uphold the highest standards at the bar, to be diligent and to always assist the Court during his practice.

Abhimanyu responded by vowing to always exceed the standards established by the Legal Practitioner’s Act, doing his best to diligently represent the interest of his clients and uphold the highest standards expected by the judiciary. The newly admitted attorney will begin his career at the commercial firm of London House Chambers.
