    The Ministry of Health has reported that two men, ages 66 and 80, died on Sunday after they were infected with the virus that causes the disease COVID-19.

    Both of these men were reportedly unvaccinated. The 80-year-old man was from Region Three (Essequibo Islands- West Demerara) while the 66-year-old man was from Region Two (Pomeroon- Supenaam).

    With these new deaths, the death toll for October has increased to 98 while a total of 897 deaths have been recorded since March 11, 2020.

    Meanwhile, a total of 37 new infections have been recorded over a 24-hour period. These new infections were recorded after 337 new tests were conducted. The total number of infections recorded in Guyana since March last year has increased to 35,104.

    These new cases were recorded in: Region One (one new case), Region Two (two cases), Region Three (four cases), Region Four (12 cases), Region Six (six cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (one case) and Region 10 (10 cases).

    Additionally, there are 22 patients receiving treatment in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 104 individuals in institutional isolation, 3,326 people in home isolation and three people in institutional quarantine.

    Importantly, a total of 30,755 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
