    Four persons who tested positive for COVID-19 died between October 22 and October 28, the Ministry of Health reported.

    Three of the persons who died were unvaccinated while the other was fully vaccinated. The latest fatalities take the death toll for October to 105; it also means that since March 2020, a total of 904 people died from the dreaded disease.

    The ministry reported that all four patients – two men and two women- died while receiving medical care.

    Meanwhile, 98 new COVID-19 cases were recorded within the last 24 hours from a total of 1, 249 tests. This takes the overall number of confirmed cases in Guyana to 35, 350.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (three cases), Region Two (one case), Region Three (five cases), Region Four (52 cases), Region Five (six cases), Region Six (25 cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region Ten (four cases).

    According to the ministry’s dashboard, there are 23 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital; 70 patients are in institutional isolation and 2, 832 patients are in home isolation.

    To date, 31, 521 persons have recovered from the virus.
