The not-for-profit organization Beacon Foundation, which has been providing care for cancer patients free of charge, has received $1,070,000 from the Seaboard Overseas Trading Group (SOTG).

The Foundation has been providing domiciliary palliative care for cancer patients since 1986.

The Foundation said the donation will help support long-term support of cancer patients and their families.

The Seaboard Overseas Trading Group has been supporting a number of charitable projects over the years.

The donation to Beacon Foundation was through its local subsidiary the National Milling Company of Guyana (Namilco) and the contribution was handed over by the Managing Director of Namilco, Bert Sukhai.

Beacon Foundation and Namilco has urged others to continue to show their support “for the courageous men, women and children who have been diagnosed with cancer and to honour those who have lost their battle to this disease.”
