Corentyne man found dead in lock-ups
A 51-year-old man was found dead in the Springlands police station lock up in Region Six on Tuesday afternoon just a day before appearing in court.
It is suspected that he died by suicide.
Dead is Chattergoon Sookoo called ‘Boy’ of No. 77 Housing Scheme, Upper Corentyne, Berbice.
Regional Commander Jairam Ramlakhan confirmed that Sookoo was expected to appear in court on Wednesday for allegedly threatening to kill his wife and three-year-old daughter.
He was arrested on Sunday.
