Massy pumps $162M into new Store at Ruimveldt

Massy Stores Guyana has expanded its services – this time in Ruimveldt, Georgetown – with a brand new location representing an investment of $162 million.

The new location opened its doors to the public on Tuesday with a small ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Massy Stores has been rapidly expanding its services here; over the past six months, two brand new locations have been launched and now, the location at Lot R6 Ruimveldt represents the fifth location countrywide.

This, according to General Manager Robert Singh, is owed to the massive transformation Guyana is currently undergoing. With that transformation comes a need to provide quality service to all, and this is what Massy is prepared to offer to its customers, Singh said.

“You, the shopper deserves a better shopping experience. You, the shopper deserves the best shopping experience so Massy Stores Guyana is now on a mission to deliver a first-class retail experience to you,” he said.

The General Manager was also keen to mention that the Massy Chain focuses heavily on investing in the local economy, sourcing local goods and produce directly from farmers.

“The benefit of our expansion goes beyond meeting our customers’ needs…it means providing employment for Guyanese and developing their skills through training programmes.

“It means providing a new market for our hardworking farmers and other local producers as well,” he continued.

Singh pointed out that the new Ruimveldt location will offer the same quality products as the other locations, however, teachers who shop there will be offered a special discount. This will also extend to the other outlets across Guyana.

Meanwhile, Store Manager Alvin Wilson explained that a total of 15 locals will be employed to execute Massy’s mandate – “Our Family Serving Your Family”.

Massy Stores is a regional supermarket chain with over 50 locations across the Caribbean including St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago. (Shikema Dey)
