    The Ministry of Health is reporting that an 84-year-old died from COVID-19 in August. This means that the death toll for August has increased to 78 and the overall number of deaths is now 926. The ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, revealed that the death is now being reported after the surveillance unit carried out data reconciliation exercise. The woman from Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) was unvaccinated and died on August 26.

    For the month of October, 126 people had died from the virus.

    Meanwhile, a total of 62 new COVID cases were recorded from 1,013 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 35,917.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions: Region One (seven cases), Region Three (one case), Region Four (18 cases), Region Five (13 cases), Region Six (16 cases), Region Eight (one case), Region Nine (four cases) and Region Ten (two cases).

    There are 14 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 62 patients are in institutional isolation and, 2, 499 patients are in home isolation.

    To date, 32,218 persons have recovered from the virus.
