Guyanese table tennis player Shemar Britton remained unbeaten in the Ecuador International Open with victory in Round Two of the tournament, which forms part of the International Table Tennis Federation’s Contender Series.

The former Caribbean Under-21 champion disposed of Rodrigo Ali Izaguirre Vigo of Peru 4-2 in the Men’s Singles on Tuesday afternoon, to add to his victory earlier in the day against Ignacio Paul Cedeno Ponce of the host nation.

In Round Two action, Britton won the first set 11-9, before Vigo levelled the game with a similar scoreline in the second set.

Britton, a 2019 Caribbean Championship bronze medallist, then took a 3-1 advantage with 11-8, 11-6 wins in the third and fourth sets respectively.

Vigo pulled things back with an 11-7 win in the fifth set, but Britton closed out the match with an 11-8 success in the sixth set.

    Earlier in the day, Britton defeated Ponce 4-1 (6-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6).
