    The Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Guyana (UG) and local energy company CBMEX Energy Guyana to facilitate training for more Guyanese in the oil sector.

    This is according to information provided to the News Room. The GOGEC also issued the statement below:

    The Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber – GOGEC entered into a tripartite MOU with the

    University of Guyana and CBMEX Energy Guyana Inc.

    The objective of this memorandum of Understanding is to work in close collaboration with the University, The Association and CBMEX, and its important role in the entire value chain of the hydrocarbon industry.

    Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber mission is to ensure that there are equal opportunities for all the operators and potential operators within the oil and gas industry and promote trade, investment, and knowledge transfer within the energy sector to all members and stakeholders.

    The Guyana Oil & Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC), the University of Guyana and CBMEX have in common the desire to encourage and facilitate the dissemination, and application of new knowledge and expertise especially in the area of oil and gas development and management, and the University desires to collaborate with its two partners in such endeavors.

    The University offers over 20 programmes in Energy including oil and gas and petroleum

    engineering. The Institute of Energy Diplomacy and faculty offers the programmes and collaborates with CBMEX and other reputable international training institutes to offer these.

    CBMEX Energy Guyana is a group of companies that offers strategical, economical, and

    technical assistance and training in the hydrocarbon sector led by professionals with extensive experience in the energy business who have led important companies in the sector and currently advise international public and private oil companies.

    CBMEX Energy Guyana specialized and tailored oil and gas training courses, technical assistance and project development capabilities are offered via their extensive outreach of international O&G experts.

    The memorandum of understanding was signed by Mr. Manniram Prashad – President of the Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber, Prof. Paloma Mohamed Martin- Vice Chancellor University of Guyana and Mr. Milton E. Chaves – Member of the Board of Directors of CBMEX.

    The signing of the MOU was witnessed by Mr. Antonio Cruz-Diaz Charge d’Affaires- Embassy of Mexico

    In his address at the launching of GOGEC Training center, Minister of Natural Resources Mr.

    Vickram Bharat’s message to GOGEC was to aggressively pursue training in the oil and gas

    sector and so GOGEC is fulfilling that mandate.

    Also, in keeping with the government’s creation of a national training institute next year, which will aim to train some 1000 persons per year. Government is looking now to train 600 to 700 welders in a short-term certification programme to support the oil sector.

    GOGEC will work toward achieving these objectives and will ensure Guyanese are trained in all aspects of the oil and gas sector.
