Region 7 man dies from COVID; 45 new cases recorded

A 52-year-old man from Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) is the latest COVID-19 fatality, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday.

The unvaccinated man died on Thursday.

This takes the total number of COVID-19-related deaths recorded in Guyana to 1, 275.

Meanwhile, a total of 45 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry’s daily COVID dashboard.

The new cases take the total number of infections recorded in Guyana since March 2020 to 70,398.

The new cases were recorded in Region Thee (seven cases), Region Four (17 cases), Region Five (eight cases), Region Six (ten cases), Region Seven (two cases) and Region Nine (one case).

Meanwhile, there are two patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 patients in institutional isolation and 481 patients in home isolation.

To date, 68, 628 people have recovered.
