Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Hilton Todd on Monday engaged in a teleconference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.

During the exchange, a statement from Guyana’s Foreign Ministry noted that, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister thanked President Irfaan Ali and the People of Guyana for standing in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and for supporting the resolutions on Ukraine in the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Minister Todd and Minister Kuleba exchanged views on key issues including diplomacy, respect for international law and human rights, and the peaceful resolution of disputes and controversy.

“The two Foreign Ministers noted Guyana and Ukraine share mutual values with respect to international law and are committed to the principles and Charter of the United Nations, including the promotion of peace and stability and the use of international mechanisms for settling disputes and controversy,” the statement noted.

In concluding, the Foreign Ministers committed to continue working closely for the furtherance of stronger bilateral relations between Guyana and Ukraine.
