Gail Teixeira, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance will attend Monday’s funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of the Government of Guyana.

Apart from the actual funeral at Westminster Abbey, Minister Teixeira is expected to attend a reception hosted by King Charles III for heads of government and high-level officials attending the funeral.

The BBC says the funeral service at the abbey, which can host about 2,200 people will be “one of the biggest gatherings of royalty and politicians hosted in the UK for decades.”

Some of the head of states and foreign dignitaries who are expected to attend include: Belgium’s King Philippe and Queen Mathilde along with Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia; Commonwealth leaders including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Jamaican Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen along with Prime Minister, Andrew Holness.

US President Joe Biden is billed to attend but there is speculation if he will add former US President Donald Trump to his delegation.

It is believed that the Obamas may receive a private invitation.

Other world leaders invited include German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

China is considering sending a high-level delegation with South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro confirming attendance.

Countries that were not invited, according to the BBC, are Syria, Venezuela and Afghanistan along with Russia, Belarus and Myanmar.
