The MS National Geographic Explorer cruise ship on Friday completed a three-day visit to Guyana after last visiting the country in 2013.

The cruise ship was hosted by Wilderness Explorers on behalf of Lindbald Expeditions, a United States tour operator, a press release from Wilderness Explorers on Friday noted.

The cruise passengers were welcomed at the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) Terminal with drumming by the Buxton Fusion Group, steelpan music by Camo Williams, and a mini arts and craft exhibition coordinated by Upmarket Producers.

Over the three-day period, 47 persons engaged in five excursions including Essequibo River mangroves, a tour of Fort Island, birding in the Botanical Gardens, Kaieteur, Mahaica River and a city tour, the release noted.

The release quoted new General Manager Carla Vantull as saying“the Expedition Leader of Linbald Expeditions provided very positive feedback on all excursions, logistics were well executed and passengers were very happy. The Leader only expressed the need to have more time in Guyana, as such, they are already planning for next year with a larger group and with an extra day in mind. Wilderness Explorers is looking forward to hosting the cruise vessel again.”

Wilderness Explorers expressed gratitude to the Guyana Tourism Authority, Local Guides, Port Authorities (Harbour Master, Health, Immigration and Customs), Inchcape Shipping Services, GuySuco Sugar Terminal and the Guyana Police Force for the role played in the smooth clearance process of the vessel, and in providing a safe and enjoyable tourism experience in destination Guyana.
