Education focused radio station – EdYou FM – is now available for persons of all ages to stream its content at any time and from anywhere following Tuesday’s launch of a new website.

EdYou FM falls under the purview of the Ministry of Education’s National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD). NCERD’s Director Quenita Walrond-Lewis expressed gratitude to the team for creating content that is accessible to parents, teachers and students.

Prior to the launch, EdYou FM teams visited several schools in five Administrative Regions to promote the programs aired on the radio station. The teams listened to the public’s views on ways they can improve their educational programs; hence, the website which can be accessed from anywhere on any device was launched.

“This website demonstrates the ministry’s commitment to reach everyone everywhere and everything,” the Head of EdYou Fm Phillip Williams said during the launch.

This premiere website will allow persons to access educational videos, the talk shows that focus on educational content and keep updated with the services provided.

However, the radio station was initially launched to target learning loss and equip children living in the coastland and riverine communities with access to programmes that are otherwise inaccessible. The children benefit from programmes that teach concepts and topics that are taken from the public school’s curriculum.

Now learners can stream radio content on their devices if they miss the programmes that are aired on the radio. The website can be accessed at https://edyou.fm/

In 2020, government earmarked $300 million to expand the Guyana Learning Channel and establish the radio station. Just recently the radio station was expanded to Region Eight and Nine.

In addition, teachers are being trained to produce radio scripts which will make available, teaching content for students at every level. Continued growth of the radio station and greater access to its content is expected for 2023.
