    The Ministry of Health on Friday reported that two men who were infected with the novel coronavirus that causes the COVID-19 disease have died.Two men die from COVID

    According to the Ministry’s statement, a 70-year-old man from Region Three whose vaccination status is unknown died on January 10 and a 79-year-old unvaccinated man from Region Two died on January 12.

    The two deaths take the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1, 293.

    Aside from the deaths, 30 new cases were recorded over a 24-hour period.

    Guyana has now recorded a total of 72, 638 cases since March 2020; 70,996 of those infected people recovered.

    Now, there are 336 people in home isolation, 10 in institutional isolation and three patients receiving critical care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

    The full regional breakdown of Guyana’s active cases are as follows:

    Region One: 14 cases

    Region Two: 37 cases

    Region Three: 32 cases

    Region Four: 151 cases

    Region Five: Four cases

    Region Six: 16 cases

    Region Seven: 53 cases

    Region Eight: one case

    Region Nine: eight cases

    Region 10: 33 cases
