Woman, 26, dies from COVID-19; 14 new cases reported

A 26-year-old woman from Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice), who was infected with the coronavirus, has died.

The Ministry of Health in a statement on Friday said that the woman, who received both her first and second dose vaccines against COVID-19, died on February 1.

This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1, 295.

Further, the ministry reported that another 14 persons were infected with COVID-19 over the last 24 hours.

These new cases take the total number of confirmed cases to 72, 984.

Meanwhile, there are ten people in institutional isolation and 93 patients in home isolation and one person in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

To date, 71,585 persons have recovered since the pandemic started in March 2020.
