‘Wheels of progress’ – Education Ministry launches ‘Mash Band 2023’  

Showcasing the new initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Education, the 2023 mash band, which was launched on Monday, signifies the elements of development in the sector.

The mash band was launched at the ministry’s Brickdam office after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, under the ‘Wheels of progress.’

Mashramani 2023 is celebrated under the theme ‘Mixing and Mashing as One Guyana.’

Designer, Neilson Nurse disclosed the ministry’s band will depict various elements that coincide with the nation’s decade of development.

“We are doing ‘Wheels of Progress’ and we are basically focusing on plans that the minister has in store for the education sector. She has a large vision and I was basically trying to bring her vision to life.”

“Ministry of Education has always been one of the eye-catching bands and we want to continue that trend,” Nurse said.

Local artiste, Vanilla, will be joining the band as it competes in the small-band category.

Speaking with the News Room, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Admin), Indranie Ramnarine, said this year, the ministry is in it to win it.

“Ministry of Education has always been very active in the Mashramani competitions. We always start with Children’s Mash competitions and we are preparing big this year at the ministry level in the national competition,” Ramnarine said.

She added, “We are all about inclusion, instructional education, theatre arts, music, TVET and everything else.

“We are in it to win it, Education is always a winner.”
