Two young boys perished in a house fire at Moblissa on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway Tuesday morning.

Dead are six-year-old Demario Skellekie and his three-year-old brother, Debron Skellekie.

The News Room understands that the siblings were home alone when the fire started.

Their mother, Latoya Skellekie was reportedly out selling fruits in the community.

Her sister, Olive Craig told the News Room that Latoya was raising her children alone and would often leave them at home while she goes out to sell.

“I was in Linden when the fire [took] place but what I know she does normally sell, and I heard she left and go and sell and when she returned the house was on fire,” Craig explained.

“That was her only two children, she work hard and mind them, she always selling to mind them,” Craig added.

Police sources earlier stated that the mother told investigators that minutes after she left home “to go down the road”, she saw the house on fire and rushed back. However, it was too late to save her children.

The authorities did not release details surrounding the tragic incident but the News Room was able to confirm that the charred remains of the boys were found among the debris after the fire was extinguished.

The mother is currently in police custody assisting with the investigations
