EDYOU FM, the Ministry of Education’s radio station, on Monday launched its new mobile app called EDpal.

The App includes educational content for students from nursery to secondary and includes content for student teachers attending the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE).

The advantage of the App is that it allows students to learn and do their schoolwork from anywhere and at any time. It also allows for shared learning and development between children and parents.

Phillip Williams, Head of EDYOU FM, said because the App functions with Artificial Intelligence (AI), recommendations for specific content will be given to aid in further learning based on the user’s interactions.

Minister of Education Priya Manickchand, urged parents “to try to find the balance and continue to monitor children on devices, but to embrace what those can do for the development of our young minds.”

She also urged teachers to “embrace these various means of education we are trying to give.”

EDpal is available for download on Android devices and will soon be available on Apple devices, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of users. The app can be accessed free of charge, making it an inclusive resource for all learners.

    Key features of ‘EDpal’ include:

    1. On-Demand Learning: Learners can access a wide range of educational content instantly, whenever and wherever they need it.

    2. Easy Navigation: The app’s user-friendly interface allows for effortless browsing and access to specific topics; and because its audio-centric, it will require low bandwidth.

    3. Measurable: we can generate a matrix of data based on usage and downloads, which will inform MOE on the effectiveness of the app and content accessed.

    4. Personalized Learning: Students can tailor their learning experiences by focusing on areas they find challenging or want to explore further.

    5. Offline Access: The app supports offline access to content, ensuring uninterrupted learning even in low-connectivity areas.
