    Two Guyanese students, Alex Muntaz and Naresh Jagnanan, topped this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) respectively.

    Education Minister Priya Manickchand announced the results on Friday via a video uploaded to her Facebook page.

    Jagnanan hails from the island of Wakenaam and attended the Essequibo Islands Secondary School and later, Queen’s College.

    He was the region’s top CSEC Business student after the 2021 sitting of the CSEC examinations. Afterwards, he pursued his CAPE studies at Queen’s College. He is also this year’s Most Outstanding CAPE Business student.

    Now, Jagnanan is attending the University of the West Indies (UWI) – St. Augustine Campus.

    Muntaz, on the other hand, attended the Anna Regina Secondary School in Region Two (Pomeroon- Supenaam). This year, he raked in 23 Grade One passes and four Grade Two passes.

    He was also deemed this year’s Most Outstanding Technical/Vocational Studies student.

    Aside from the accolades picked up by Jagnanan and Muntaz, Guyana also scored several other regional awards.

    Naila Rahaman, from Queen’s College, is this year’s Most Outstanding CSEC Humanities student.

    Abigail Stephanas, also from Queen’s College, is the Most Outstanding CSEC Science student. Finally, Siddiq Gafar, from the Isa Islamic School, is the Most Outstanding CSEC Business student.
