    Popular Guyanese journalist Michael Jordan, known for his crime reporting at Kaieteur News, was Friday night among winners of the Guyana Prize for Literature.

    Jordan won the fiction category with his book “The Girl in the Pink Pleated Skirt”.

    First Prize for Non-fiction went to Etherine G H Adams with her entry “The Few Among the Many: Women’s Labour in British Guiana’s Jails”.

    The announcement of the winners of the Prize was made at the National Culture Centre, Georgetown with the subject Minister Charles Ramson Jr. and Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d), Mark Phillips among the special attendees.

    Harold Bascom received the top award for Drama, winning with “Unfounded”.

    The first place winner for Best First Book of Poetry is Ruth Osman with her entry “All Made of Longing”.

    Writer and former sugar manager Ian McDonald won the Best Overall Book of Poetry category for “Not Quite Without a Moon” while and first prize for Youths Poetry went to Reneka Anand. Her winning entry was “Lotus Flower Story: The Woman”.

    Samir Mohammed walked away with the First Prize for Short Stories with his entry “The Lighthouse at the Bottom of The Sea” and third place in the Boy’s Poetry Category with his poem “Shadows in the Sand”.
