    Micheal Soomair called ‘Mikey’, a 75-year-old Pensioner from  Hope Estate, East Coast Demerara was found dead in his home last Thursday with his hands tied be hind his back.

    Investigations conducted so far revealed that Soomair was living in the lower flat of a two-storey wooden and concrete dwelling house.

    “The body of Soomair was found in the hall area facing downwards with a chair resting on his back. The chair was removed, and a sheet was seen tied with two knots around the head on a pillow, and both hands were tied behind the back with a rope,” police said in a statement.

    The body was examined, and injuries were seen on the forehead, right ankle, and left elbow. The entire house was ransacked, and so far, only one 32-inch television set that is not in working order was reported to have been stolen.

    The EMT, headed by Dr. Uthman from Clonbrook Health Center, arrived and pronounced Soomair dead.

    The body was removed and escorted to the Memorial Funeral Home Mortuary for storage, awaiting PME. Investigations are ongoing.
