With fitness at the forefront of his preparation heading in to CPL 2024, Shimron Hetmyer has been reaping rewards for defending champions Guyana Amazon Warriors.

On Wednesday night, the left-hander scored brisk 57 off 34 (4x4s, 3x6s), his third half-century this season, to help Warriors defeat Barbados Royals by 47 runs in Match 27 at the National Stadium, Providence.

Shai Hope made 71 off 37 (5x4s, 5x6s) as the Warriors piled up 219-8, before Royals recovered from 95-8 to post 172-9, thanks largely to David Miller’s unbeaten 71 off 34 (8x4s, 5x6s).

The victory not only keeps Warriors in the hunt for a successful title defence, but also crucially puts them in a position to finish in the top two, thereby having two shots at making the final.
