Paper immigration forms to be abolished by end of January – President announces

In a significant step towards modernising the travel process, President Irfaan Ali Tuesday announced that the use of paper immigration forms will be abolished by the end of January.

“We have to make it easier for the transport of people,” the President stated at a press conference at his State House, Georgetown residence.

“I have told the Commissioner of Police that by the end of January, I want that immigration form that we have to fill out to be online. This will allow travellers to complete it before boarding their flight or even while waiting at the airport.”

The initiative is expected to streamline the travel experience, reducing delays and minimising the hassle associated with paper forms.

By moving the process online, travellers will have the flexibility to submit their details in advance, potentially expediting immigration procedures upon arrival.

The shift is part of broader efforts to modernise public services and adopt digital solutions that enhance convenience and efficiency.

This move aligns with global trends, as many countries transition to digital immigration systems to improve border management and enhance security.
