The Mexico-Guyana Chamber of Commerce was officially launched on Tuesday. This newly formed Chamber provides a space for fostering connections between Guyanese and Mexican businesses, reinforcing the strong relationship between the two nations and unlocking new avenues for trade and investment.

The new Chamber of Commerce was launched on the first day of the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo at the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown.

Mexican Ambassador to Guyana, Mauricio Crespo, during brief remarks highlighted efforts by both governments to ease interactions, including visa waivers.

“Both the government of Guyana and the government of Mexico are trying to make that interaction easy by working on the waiving of the visa, for instance.

Additionally, the Undersecretary for Mexico and the Caribbean, Raquel Serur, in a video message underscored the broader impact of this collaboration.

“We are convinced that this collaboration will help us in our fight against poverty and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean,” she said.

Serur expressed optimism about expanding the Chamber beyond beyond Guyana.

“Today, we are witnesses to the renewed interest of the productive sectors of our countries in becoming closer partners and jointly exploring the unparalleled opportunities.

“I would like to point out that our intention is for the establishment of the Mexico-Guyana Chamber of Commerce to be the first step in the goal of creating a Commerce that includes all the member countries of CARICOM,” Serur stated.

Meanwhile, Head of the Guyana Office for Investment, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, stressed the value of this partnership in his remarks.

“We have had many delegations already coming from Mexico and the interest in the opportunities that have been organised today and would be organized throughout this conference is going to be very important,” Dr. Ramsaroop noted as he urged Guyanese businesses to become part of the Chamber.

“We are proud to see Mexico and Guyana set the stage for new form of relationship.

“I believe Mexico will bring significant value to the Guyana projects, they have been in business for a long time, manufacturing and logistics, oil and gas and many support services,” Dr. Ramsaroop noted.
