Police Officer involved in brawl transferred, OPR probing incident 

A Police Officer who was involved in a brawl in Georgetown was reportedly transferred to another region even as the Guyana Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) probes the incident.

In a video that circulated on social media, the officer was seen punching a man on the road. Other officers, including a senior rank, attempted to diffuse the situation, but the rank continued to hit the man.

It is unclear from the video if the citizen attacked the Policeman before the brawl.

In an update on Friday, Police Headquarters said the rank was transferred “with immediate effect” as the probe unfolds.
