Burnham’s son-in-law & fmr. PNCR Exec endorses Irfaan Ali, PPP 

Former PNC/R Central Executive member and Government Minister Dr Richard VanWest Charles on Thursday endorsed President Dr Irfaan Ali for a second term.

President Ali represents the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), the party in office since 2020. Dr. Ali and the PPP are seeking reelection in the September 1, 2025, General and Regional Elections.

Dr. Van West Charles, in a video shared on President Ali’s Facebook page, said he has been part of the People’s National Congress Reform for decades but believes that President Ali is the leader Guyana needs now.

“Over the last four years, we have been able to witness and palpate the performance of President Mohamed Irfaan Ali. He has worked assiduously in ensuring that there is increasing participation of our people based on the resources emanating from the petroleum industry and other industries

“… as we move now further to deepen the development of the oil and gas industry, we need someone who has proven leadership in the use of the resources in a constructive and equitable manner,” Dr. Van West Charles said.

Dr. Van West Charles is currently Guyana’s Ambassador to Venezuela. He joins a list of other prominent political players now endorsing President Ali and the PPP.

In the past week, Liberty and Justice Party Leader, Lenox Shuman; The Citizenship Initiative’s Shazaam Ally; and PNCR’s Daniel Seeram all endorsed President Ali and the PPP.
