Fmr. Canadian High Commissioner now Chair of business chamber 

The Canada-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) is pleased to announce its Board of Directors, following the successful conclusion of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025.

These appointments reflect the Chamber’s continued commitment to fostering strong bilateral economic relations between Canada and Guyana, enhancing private sector collaboration, and supporting inclusive, sustainable development across both jurisdictions.

The new Board members are as follows:

• Ms. Lilian Chatterjee – Chair
• Dr. Surendra Persaud – Co-Chair
• Mr. Winston Kassim – Honorary Co-Chair – Canada
• Mr. Anand Beharry – Honorary Co-Chair – Guyana
• Dr. Vishnu Doerga – Secretary
• Mr. Suraj Mattai – Treasurer

Mr. Fareed Amin, Former Deputy Minister, Government of Ontario, will continue as the Managing Director.

The Chamber extends its heartfelt congratulations to the new Board and expresses its sincere appreciation to outgoing Board members for their dedicated service and contributions. The newly constituted Board brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and cross-sector expertise that will further strengthen the Chamber’s ability to serve its members and advance the Canada-Guyana commercial partnership.
