    Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh on Monday revealed that the government has so far invested $12.9 billion into the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL), delivering more than 39,000 scholarships to citizens since its establishment in 2021.

    “That represents an investment of approximately $312,000 per student. This year alone we will be graduating over 2,000 persons who have completed courses at several levels,” Dr Singh at the third annual GOAL graduation ceremony.

    For the first time, the graduation will be held over two days. The first ceremony held on Monday saw 580 students conferred with master’s degrees.

    Tuesday will be followed with students who successfully attained bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and specialised certificates.

    This year’s graduation ceremony is being held under the theme “Enhancing the Nation’s Human Capacity”, aligning with the Government’s broader development vision. It also marks the fifth anniversary of GOAL, which was launched to transform access to tertiary education for thousands of Guyanese.

    On Monday, the distribution of certificates: Master’s Degree Programmes were conferred from the following universities;

    1. Indira Gandhi National Open University, India
    2. International University of Applied Sciences, Germany
    3. JAIN “deemed to be” University, India
    4. Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom
    5. Structuralia, Universidad lsabel I, Spain
    6. Texila American University, Guyana
    7. Unicaf University, Malawi
    8. Unicaf University, Zambia
    9. University of East London, United Kingdom
    10. University of Southern Caribbean, Trinidad

    The GOAL programme continues to support Guyanese in acquiring internationally recognised qualifications, promoting national development through education and skills-building.
