New programme to ‘aggressively’ tackle violence against women coming 

A programme that will tackle the scourge of violence against women in Guyana will be rolled out soon, according to President Dr. Irfaan Ali.

The Guyanese Head of State revealed this on Monday as he addressed a graduation ceremony for the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) at the National Cultural Centre, Georgetown.

“We will be using technology to its fullest, and you will hear about that programme that will help all of us to aggressively deal with violence against women,” the President said.

In April, the President said a “systemic, national-scale approach” to address domestic violence would be launched soon to prevent the country from losing lives “senselessly.”

“Together, we must all take proactive action to confront this issue,” the President said in an April 24 statement.
