President Dr Irfaan Ali at the weekend held bilateral discussions with the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in Brasília. The talks focused on advancing infrastructure projects and strengthening international mobilisation efforts around biodiversity conservation and forest protection, particularly in preparation for COP30.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Ali also met with Sergio Diaz-Granados Guida, President of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). The meeting explored development financing opportunities and partnerships to support key projects across Guyana and the region.

The Brazil–Caribbean Summit, being held at the Itamaraty Palace, seeks to deepen political and economic ties between Brazil and Caribbean nations, with a focus on sustainable development, regional integration, and climate resilience.
