Guyana’s U-14 girls’ national team has punched its ticket to the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U-14 Challenge Series semifinals, holding the Cayman Islands to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Trinidad and Tobago.

The defensive stalemate was tense, with the Golden Jaguars withstanding a late barrage of attacks from the Cayman Islands to preserve the clean sheet.

The draw follows a flawless start to the tournament for Guyana, which had won its previous three matches.

Just two days earlier, the Guyanese secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Anguilla, with Lehiana Bengamin’s seventh-minute penalty proving to be the difference.

That win, coupled with a 2-0 triumph over Turks and Caicos Islands and a 2-1 victory against Antigua and Barbuda, ensured they finished at the top of Tier II Group C.

Under the tournament format, the three group winners from Tier II automatically advance to the semifinals, with the final spot going to the best second-place team. Guyana’s opponent for the semifinal fixture is yet to be announced.
