Preparations are about 90 per cent complete for Guyana’s premier trade and investment fair, and later this week, when GuyExpo opens, patrons can visit nearly 300 booths spread across the National Exhibition Centre at Sophia, Georgetown.

The expo opens on Thursday, November 13, and will run until November 16 under the theme “Transformation through Entrepreneurship and Innovation.”

During a walkabout at the site on Monday, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, said this year’s event will feature several exciting new elements designed to enhance both visitor and exhibitor experiences.

“This year, the expo is focused heavily on our local manufacturers. We want to ensure that we raise their visibility at the expo, staying true to what the nature of GuyExpo is about— promoting local Guyanese products,” Rodrigues said.

Among the new features are a redesigned layout to allow smoother flow throughout the venue, the addition of a new auditorium that will host a range of government services, and a “food basket” centerpiece symbolising Guyana’s agricultural prowess.

GuyExpo 2025 will feature about 250 booths.

A Business-to-Business (B2B) seminar, set for Friday, November 14, will be conducted by GO-Invest and is expected to attract participation from both local and overseas businesses.

“Because part of giving them a platform for visibility is also ensuring they have access to new markets,” Rodrigues said.

Visitors can also look forward to a tourism village, prominently featuring the Guyana Tourism Authority, as well as a special showcase by the Rodeo Committee, which will give city residents a taste of the country’s rodeo culture. A theatre will screen local documentaries and highlight tourist sites and attractions across Guyana.

Adding to the authentic experience, the expo will feature entertainment segments, cultural performances, and children’s activities, all spotlighting local talent.

Preparations ongoing at the GuyExpo site

“We are really producing an authentic Guyanese experience here at GuyExpo. You can come and see all of the products and services that are available, manufactured locally, including our culture and entertainment pieces that will feature prominently, “Rodrigues stated.

Measures are in place to ensure smooth traffic flow, open access roads, and designated parking areas.

Innovation and technology will also take center stage this year, including a model house constructed in just one week using modern building techniques.

“This is something that can be considered by anybody looking to build a home in the shortest possible time,” Rodrigues said.

As GuyExpo celebrates its 30th anniversary, 13 businesses and individuals who have been part of the expo’s journey since its inception will be honoured during the opening ceremony, which President Dr. Irfaan Ali will officially open.
