GRA orders Golden Gloves Back Track Service to suspend operations and regularise service

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has officially suspended services at the Golden Gloves Back Track Service, which operates a speedboat service from Corriverton to Suriname.

The owner, Mohamed Mursaline, told the News Room he was issued a letter by GRA recently to halt operations from today.

In the letter obtained by the News Room, GRA explained that following a review of the Golden Gloves Back Track Service operations located at Lot 7B, No.78 Village, Corriverton, Berbice, it was found that the location is not recognised among the Authority’s approved ports of entry or sufferance wharves.

Consequently, no vessel is allowed to load or offload goods or baggage at this site unless instructed by a Proper Officer of Customs.

“Your current activities are in direct contravention of the Customs Act, Chapter 82:01 and related regulations governing the handling of goods at ports and wharves. In light of the above, you are hereby formally notified that all such unauthorized operations at Gloves Back Track Service MUST cease with immediate effect,” GRA said.

The letter also emphasized that continued non-compliance could lead to severe consequences for Golden Gloves Back Track Service, including potential penalties and prosecution under the Customs Act.

“Your cooperation in regularizing your operations is expected and appreciated.”
