BUDGET 2026: All corporate taxes on agri & agro-processing businesses to be removed

Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh announced on Monday night that the government will be removing all corporate taxes in the agriculture and agro-processing businesses.
Dr Singh spoke about this budgetary measure during his presentation of the 2026 National budget.
This measure, he explained, is part of the government’s plan to boost the agriculture sector and foster greater food security locally.
Guyana has taken the lead on food security within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), pushing for greater local and regional food production so that the region can reduce its reliance on costly imports. For its part, based on a 2025 study published in Nature Food, Guyana has been deemed the only country that is fully capable of feeding its population through domestic production.
Beyond this venture, the Finance Minister said special development zones will be established in areas across the country. These zones are intended to incentivise private investments in strategic locations, boosting the commercial activity and manufacturing.
