Honduras took a significant step toward the Final Round of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers with a clinical 3-1 victory over Guyana on Saturday in Aruba.

The result moves Honduras to the summit of Group D, while Guyana must now rely on a victory in their final match and favourable results across other groups to secure one of the two elusive “best second-place” berths.

Ilsy Sevilla opened the scoring in the 7’ with a towering free kick from about 45 yards out and Jazlyn Sánchez doubled the lead in the 45’+3’ with a header at the back post.

Halftime substitute Valentina Chavarria made an immediate impact for Honduras, with a goal just two minutes after entering the game in the 47th minute.

Anaya Joseph scored Guyana’s lone goal in the 87th minute as she hustled to a bouncing ball and put it away.

With only the six group winners and the two best second-place finishers advancing to join the seeded quartet of the USA, Mexico, Canada, and Puerto Rico, the stakes have shifted for Guyana.

Guyana currently sit on four points. To advance, they must defeat St. Vincent and the Grenadines on February 2 to reach seven points and maintain a healthy goal difference.

Their fate will also depend on the outcome of the Jamaica vs. Honduras fixture; a Jamaican defeat combined with a Guyanese victory would leave Guyana second, hoping their point tally is sufficient to rank among the top two runners-up across all six groups.
