Anna Regina National Stadium to open in March- Minister Ramson Jr.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., has announced that the Anna Regina National Stadium will officially be commissioned in March, following the opening of Bayroc National Stadium earlier this month.

The Minister made the disclosure during the considerations of estimates and expenditure for Budget 2026 on Wednesday evening.

The Committee of Supply approved G$10.9B for the Ministry, out of which G$6B is for sport.

The aggressive infrastructure drive aims to decentralise elite sports, moving away from a Region Four -centric model to provide state-of-the-art facilities across the coastland and the interior.

“I think for the people of Anna Regina, they’re going to be really excited,” Minister Ramson stated during the 2026 Budget estimates. “We are going to be opening all five stadiums this year. We’ve already done one; we have four more to go.”

Moreover, the transformation of the storied MacKenzie Sports Complex is nearing completion, as the Minister reaffirmed that the complex is fully state-owned and undergoing a comprehensive modernisation, with an expected commissioning date in April, weather permitting.

The Minister noted that all the stadiums will be opened in 2026 and possibly two indoor multi-purpose halls

He also disclosed that management structures, through the Ministry, will be established, placing an emphasis on ensuring athletes can access the facilities and maintain them to high standards.
