West Indies have named a reinforced 15-member squad for their upcoming three-match One Day International series against Sri Lanka, headlined by the return of captain Hayley Matthews and veteran all-rounder Deandra Dottin.

The series, which begins on February 20 in St George’s, represents a critical juncture for the hosts as they look to improve their ninth-place standing in the ICC Women’s Championship.

Guyanese Shemaine Campbelle, Ashmini Munisar and Realeanna Grimmond have retained their spots.

The most significant administrative change is the promotion of Chinelle Henry to vice-captain. Henry, a regular in global franchise leagues, takes over the role from veteran wicketkeeper-batter Shemaine Campbelle.

Matthews herself returns to the fold after a lengthy absence. A persistent shoulder injury had sidelined the premier all-rounder since last June, forcing her to miss the entirety of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) and subsequent international commitments.

In a massive boost to the middle order, Deandra Dottin returns to the ODI setup after an injury-plagued 2025. Dottin was a notable absentee during the World Cup Qualifiers in Pakistan and the home series against South Africa.

Her ability to provide explosive finishes and high-impact overs in the middle phase will be vital against a Sri Lankan side that famously beat the West Indies in their last ODI encounter in 2024.

“We’re excited to have this series against Sri Lanka, who are a really good team,” Head Coach Shane Deitz said. “They beat us in the ODI series back in 2024, so we owe them one and now we get them on our home turf. It’ll be tough and hard-fought.”

The series is a classic battle of the mid-table: Sri Lanka currently sits at No. 6 in the ICC ODI rankings, three spots ahead of the West Indies.

To bridge that gap, Cricket West Indies has invested heavily in preparation, including an eight-week high-performance camp in Antigua and a specialised training stint at the Super Kings Academy in Chennai for 15 members of the player pool.

The squad also features exciting young talent such as Ashmini Munisar and Realeanna Grimmond, who have been rewarded for their consistency throughout the regional season and the high-performance camps.

West Indies Women’s ODI Squad: Hayley Matthews (capt), Chinelle Henry (vc), Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Jahzara Claxton, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Jannillea Glasgow, Realeanna Grimmond, Shawnisha Hector, Qiana Joseph, Ashmini Munisar, Karishma Ramharack, Shunelle Sawh, Stafanie Taylor.

Series Schedule: (All matches will be played at the National Cricket Stadium)
