The South Essequibo Cricket Committee has launched a strategic intervention to bridge the gap between youth and senior cricket with the announcement of an Under-25 Invitational 40-over tournament.

Sponsored by H. Ramballi Construction Company, the competition aims to provide a platform for players who have recently aged out of the Under-19 system but have yet to cement their places in senior inter-county squads.

The round-robin tournament will feature four teams: South Essequibo, Bartica, East Bank Essequibo, and the Royal Strikers of Wakenaam.

matches scheduled to be played at the Imam Bacchus ground and Pamona.

“The idea behind the tournament is to help bridge that gap,” said Antony Adams, the long-serving national player who is part of the coaching panel.

“When players finish Under-19s, they often find a vacuum before senior cricket. This accommodates those players and gives them continuity.”

Joining Adams are Rayon DaCosta, Terry Newton, Nandkishore Andrews, Delroy Jacobs and Chairman of the South Essequibo Committee, Norwayne Fedricks.

While the initial tournament is limited to four teams, Adams indicated that the framework is designed to be scalable, with the potential to accommodate more representative sides from across the county.
