    Top Under-19 cricketers in the county of Demerara will compete for top honours from February 18-27 when the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) stages its Inter-Association 50-over competition.

    The DCB is anticipating an exciting tournament, featuring some rising talents in the county.

    “Under-19 cricket is back- bigger, better and more competitive than ever,” the DCB said.

    “Fans can look forward to thrilling match-ups featuring West Indies Under-19 World Cup player Shamar Apple, alongside outstanding local talents such as Parmeshwar Ram, Marcel Nandu, Joshua Budhram and Russel Anderson. These rising stars will battle it out for their associations, chasing bragging rights and glory.”

    The tournament will feature five teams- East Bank, East Coast, Georgetown, Upper Demerara and West Demerara.

    “Expect high-intensity action, raw talent and unforgettable performances as tomorrow’s champions take center stage,” the DCB declared.

    East Bank: Joshua Budhram (Captain), Vinesh Kalpoo, Rupie Rajaram, Dilshan Latchman, Yeshua Hutson, Leon James, Orwin Jordan, Shane Shivbarran, Ravindra Singh, Julian Craig, Shem Ramcharran, Shane Kissoondeo, Marvin Simpson and Hemraj Bhowan.

    East Coast: Arun Gainda (Captain), Munesh Outar, Marcel Nundu, Kyle Gibson, Bhishram Udan, Yannick Newton, Junia Dindyal, Jude Andrews, Trilok Nanan, Vijai Kaplu, Tyrell King, Joason Dindyal, Kaylon Callendar and Akeem Persaud.

    Georgetown: Dave Mohabir (Captain), Khush Seegobin,Emmanuel Lewis, Dhanesh Persaud, Shamar Apple, Jonathan Mentore, Ravaldo Pereira, Reyaz Latif, Shane Prince, Stephon Seymour, Danvir Seegobin, Samuel Ally, Lomar Seecharran and Jasane Craig.

    Upper Demerara: Russel Anderson (Captain), Errol Alder, Triston Peters, Elizah Bowen, Rusco Anderson, Jaushawn Clark, Tyrick Henry, Andy Ramgoolam, Alex Ragubeer, Shahid Ramzan, Nicholas Simon, Antonio Chan, Divin Persaud, Randy Chung, Nathan Bishop, Makai Dowlin and Aadesh Mahase.

    West Demerara: Pameshwar Ram (Captain), Patricce Fraser, Wazir Gulam, Joshua Kushendyal, Navindra Samkar, Ishan Harricharan, Arvin Suknanan, Robin Seecharran, Krishna Mahesh, Isaiah Anderson, Shazad Ally, Amrit Persaud, Christopher Persaud, Rudranauth Persaud, Shaker Ramesh.

    Significance of the tournament

    According to the DCB, this Under-19 Inter-Association competition serves as a vital platform for nurturing young cricketers across Demerara.

    “It provides them with the opportunity to gain competitive match experience, showcase their skills, and stake a claim for future selection at higher levels of the game,” the DCB said.

    The DCB said it remains committed to fostering youth development and ensuring that cricket continues to thrive across the region.

    “Fans are encouraged to come out and support these rising stars as they embark on their journey in the sport.”
