Slingerz Football Club has intensified its campaign in the ongoing Guyana Football Federation (GFF) domestic season and strengthened its squad ahead of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield, signing three players from Africa in a clear statement of intent.

The club has officially announced the arrival of Cameroonian defender NJoh Motutu, who joins from Fako United FC.

Motutu, who plied his trade in the Southwest Division of Cameroon’s football pyramid, is widely regarded as a disciplined, hard-nosed defender known for his physical presence and strong reading of the game.

He is set to make his debut tonight when Slingerz face Monedderlust in the GFF Elite League Cup at the National Training Centre, Providence, from 19:00hrs.

His inclusion is expected to add steel and experience to the club’s defensive unit as they seek to add another trophy to their already extensive cabinet.

Further bolstering the squad, Slingerz have secured the services of Kalifa Jallow from The Gambia, who currently plays with Gambia Ports Authority FC, and Yusifu Kargbo from Sierra Leone’s FC Kallon-Freetown.

Both players are scheduled to arrive in Guyana over the weekend and are expected to integrate quickly into the team’s setup.

In a statement, the club described the overseas recruitment drive as a worthwhile investment, particularly given the evolving landscape of football in Guyana.

With increased competition and higher performance standards across the region, Slingerz believe strategic acquisitions are necessary to remain competitive both domestically and in the wider Caribbean.

The club also moved to strengthen its local core, securing goalkeeper Sese Norville from Police FC, and promising young winger Samuel Garnett from Western Tigers. According to Slingerz, these additions complement an already balanced squad that blends youth and senior experience.

The aim, the club noted, is not only to dominate the local football scene but also to provide a strong representation of Guyanese football at the CFU level.

They completed the GFF Elite League campaign unbeaten to win the title but were stunned 1–0 by Western Tigers in the final of the GFF Super 16 Year-End tournament.

With reinforced depth and renewed ambition, the club appears determined to translate its domestic consistency into silverware and make a meaningful impact on the regional stage. (Press Release)
