Region Two Playoffs: Charity and Aurora advance to next round of Massy U-18 football tourney

Charity Secondary and Aurora Secondary are set to clash in the next round of the Petra Organisation’s Massy Distribution Under-18 Region Two Playoffs following a dramatic turn of events after Wednesday’s matches at the Imam Bacchus Ground.

In the opening encounter, Charity Secondary came from behind to defeat Cotton Field Secondary 2-1. Cotton Field drew first blood in the eighth minute through Jonathan Rodrigues, putting early pressure on their opponents.
However, Charity responded with determination, as Lorenzo Johnson netted the equaliser in the 34th minute before returning in the 66th minute to complete his brace and seal the comeback victory.
In the second encounter, 8th of May Secondary had initially secured a 1-0 win over Aurora Secondary, courtesy of a 48th minute strike from Lorenzo Fernandez.
However, following the match, Aurora Secondary lodged a protest citing a breach of competition rules by 8th of May Secondary.
The matter was reviewed by the Regional Logistics Coordinator of Region Two, who, after examining the facts, ruled that 8th of May Secondary had indeed violated the regulations. As a result, the match was awarded to Aurora Secondary.
With that decision, Aurora Secondary has advanced and is now set to face Charity Secondary in the next round.
Action in the playoffs continues on Thursday (March 19) at the Imam Bacchus Ground. Anna Regina Secondary will face Abram Zuil Secondary from 15:00h, followed by Charity Secondary taking on 8th of May Secondary from 16:30h.
Schools are competing for a chance to play in the Massy Distribution Under-18 Secondary Schools tournament proper from March 21.
