The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has announced the unanimous re-election of Mrs. Kathy S. Smith as President following its 136th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on Wednesday, March 19, 2026.

The AGM brought together members of the private sector and key stakeholders, with remarks delivered by Mrs. Smith and Guyana’s President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, who served as Guest Speaker.

At its first statutory meeting on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the newly elected Council selected its Executive Management Committee (EMC) for the 2026/2027 term.

The executive positions were filled as follows:

    • President: Mrs. Kathy S. Smith (Dynotech Construction Chemicals Inc.)
    • Senior Vice President: Mr. Gavin Ramsoondar (ZARC Properties Inc.)
    • Junior Vice President: Mrs. Kristia Ramlagan-Prescott (Lodestar Inc.)
    • Treasurer: Mrs. Melisa McRae-George (Guyana Payroll Solutions Inc.)
    • Secretary: Mr. Brian Edwards (Green Agro Service & Supplies Inc.)

Additionally, the Council invited several past presidents—Mr. Timothy Tucker, Mr. Kester Hutson, and Mr. Komal Ramnauth—along with Councillor Mr. Delmar Walcott, to serve on the EMC as ex-officio members.

The GCCI said its membership and Secretariat have extended congratulations to the newly elected Council and Executive, expressing confidence in their leadership and stewardship for the upcoming term.

The Chamber, which has been “serving Guyana through commerce and industry since 1889,” continues to play a key role in advocating for the private sector and supporting national economic development.
