Shakeel Babb reigns supreme at ‘Battle of the Rising Stars 2’ Novice Bodybuilding

Shakeel Babb of Razor Athletics emerged the overall winner of the ‘Battle of the Rising Stars 2’ Novice Bodybuilding Championship, staged on Sunday evening by the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.

Over 400 persons witnessed the country’s newest entrants to bodybuilding at the Ramada Princess Hotel, East Bank Demerara, as they showcased their ripped and toned bodies on stage.

Babb qualified for the overall showdown by winning the Under-143 lbs category.

For the overall title, he was up against gym-mate Jonathan Nedderman, who won the Over-176 lbs class, Under-176 lbs Class winner Enimen Eitokpah and Vijay Rahim, the Under-165 lbs Class winner.

Speaking to News Room after his crowning moment, Babb credited his trainer and three-time Mr. Guyana champion Darious Ramsammy for his guidance in the lead-up to his maiden performance on stage.

“I’ve always been interested in upgrading my physique,” Babb said of his motivation to hit the stage.

“I was pushed by Darious and I say let me jump into it. I used to do a little work by myself, but working with Darious was a bit more of a push and pressure with certain things.”
