Continuity remains the watchword at the Everest Cricket Club (ECC) as Manzoor Nadir, Speaker of the National Assembly, was re-elected unopposed as President during the club’s Annual General Meeting on Tuesday evening.

Nadir, who has held the post since 2019, will lead the Camp Road institution for another two-year term.

The election saw Nadir’s entire slate returned to office, though the executive has grown in size.

A motion was passed to expand the committee by three members— Mark Singh, Javeed Rasheed, and Robin Bharrat—to ensure the club’s operations remain seamless even when senior officials are travelling or out of jurisdiction.

The other re-elected members were Saheed Mohamed (Senior Vice-President), Dwayne Adams  (Junior Vice-President), Joshua Kissoon (Secretary), Ramdeo Kumar (Treasurer), Safraz Sheriffudeen (Assistant Treasurer), Jacques Foster (Club Captain),  Devendra Singh (Assistant Secretary), Javed Khan (Trustee), Ravi Ramcharitar (Trustee), Dennis Charran (Committee Member), Rahaman Khan (Committee Member), John Ramsingh (Committee Member) and Bhageshwar Murli (Committee Member).

Attorney-at-Law and Member of Parliament, James Bond. served as the returning officer.

Having spent the previous term overseeing a massive overhaul of the club’s physical assets, Nadir indicated that the “heavy lifting” regarding infrastructure has laid the groundwork for a more cerebral phase of his presidency: talent development.

“Over the past year, we have invested heavily in the club’s infrastructure, making it among the best in the country. Key emphasis will now be placed on how we amplify the development of talent, given the facilities we have at hand’, the ECC President stated.

Furthermore, he expressed immense gratitude for their numerous donors, who supported the many projects that have brought the club to its current standing.

The vision is increasingly multi-disciplinary as Nadir highlighted that the facility continues to cater to tennis, squash, and table tennis, with specific areas now earmarked for hockey.

To manage the surging demand for the venue, the executive plans to modernise the club’s administration by launching an online booking portal.

This will allow members and the public to track facility availability in real time, streamlining the venue rental process.

In 2025, the club’s income surged to approximately $122M.
