DaSilva and Lowe ‘double up’ at National Junior Squash Championships

Louis DaSilva and Kaylee Lowe were the stars of the opening weekend at the National Racquet Centre, both picking up two titles at the Moo National Junior Squash Championships.
The tournament, which serves as a crucial selection ground for the upcoming Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Junior Championships, began with the doubles categories, and the top seeds largely asserted their dominance on the court.
In the boys’ doubles, the DaSilva brothers lived up to their billing. Louis and Brenno DaSilva, entering the draw as the number one seeds, were forced to dig deep after dropping the first game of the final to brothers Ethan and Egan Bulkan.
However, the siblings showcased impressive resilience to turn the match around, eventually securing the title with a 10-11, 11-7, 11-7 victory.
Kaylee Lowe enjoyed a similarly successful weekend as she partnered with Rylee Rodrigues in the girls’ doubles to navigate a tricky encounter against Emily Fung-A-Fat and Malia Maikoo.
Despite the narrow margins, Lowe and Rodrigues held their nerve to triumph 11-7, 11-10
The two standout performers then joined forces in the Mixed Doubles, where they proved to be a formidable pairing.
DaSilva and Lowe produced a clinical display to dismiss Egan Bulkan and Rylee Rodrigues 11-2, 11-7, ensuring both players ended the doubles segment with two gold medals apiece.
The focus now shifts to the individual categories, which begin today (April 13) at the National Racquet Centre on Woolford Avenue.
Key focus will be on the matches with spots on the national team for July’s CASA Junior Championships in the British Virgin Islands up for grabs.
