Persaud crowned inaugural Promotech National Top Golf League Champion

Patanjilee Persaud has been crowned the inaugural Promotech National Top Golf League Champion, capping off a demanding and highly competitive season with a composed performance in the final round.
He finished on 20 points to secure the championship purse at the Lusignan Golf Club last weekend.
He was followed by a four-way tie for second place, with Brian Hackett, Joseph Szeplaki, Fazil Haniff and Videsh Persaud all finishing on 17 points.
The decisive final round brought together the league’s top eight contenders in a high-pressure showdown, where each player still had a mathematical chance at the title.
Competing in two groups were Brian Hackett, Joseph Szeplaki, Fazil Haniff, Videsh Persaud, Patrick Prashad, Mike Mangal, Kishan Bacchus and Orson Ferguson.
With the championship on the line, the round unfolded as a true test of mental resilience and execution. Several players showed early promise, but the mounting pressure of the occasion proved decisive.
Hackett, who had been consistent throughout the season, was unable to convert when it mattered most, while Szeplaki and Haniff both displayed moments of quality but fell short of sustaining the momentum required for a title push.
Videsh Persaud remained composed but could not generate the scoring surge needed to challenge for the lead, while Prashad, coming off a strong prior performance, was unable to mount a late charge.
Former Guyana Open champion Mike Mangal demonstrated his experience with steady play but ultimately fell out of contention. Bacchus and Ferguson also showed flashes of brilliance but were unable to close the gap on the leader.
Amid the intensity, Persaud delivered a disciplined and controlled round, securing the two crucial points needed to extend his lead and clinch the championship. His consistency under pressure ultimately proved the defining factor in a closely contested league.
The final day’s competition also produced an exciting finish in the day’s tournament segment, with a three-way tie at 72 forcing a countback decision.
Balla Vijmoor emerged as the winner on countback with 10 points, while Orson Ferguson and Keshan Bacchus finished second and third with five and three points respectively. At the conclusion of the league, Persaud topped the standings with 20 points.
The Promotech National Top Golf League, which featured multiple rounds of intense competition, has been widely regarded as a significant addition to the local golfing calendar, providing a structured and competitive platform for the country’s top players.
Persaud’s triumph marks not only a personal milestone, but also a historic moment as the first champion of the Promotech National Top Golf League, having demonstrated consistency, composure and resilience throughout the season.
